Sri Venkatakrishnan Mahalingam

Hailing from the musical ecology of Thiruvidaimarudur, is a Bharathanatyam artist with a multifaceted perspective and understanding of this ancient art. The young practitioner exudes an aura of calmth and intellectual progression in his finely chiseled performance technique, creative penchant for choreography and an unconventional approach to teaching.

He is a rising performer, fast winning acclaim for his clean and effortless Nritta and sensitive handling of Abhinaya. Having learnt the rudiments under Smt. Rajalakshmi Ammal (Tanjore lineage), he furthered his interest under Guru. M Selvam (s/o Sri Muthuswamy Pillai) at Kumbakonam.
His insatiable passion for learning and perfection lead him to the renowned Dhananjayans, under whom he has flourished and won critical acclaim as a performer, teacher, composer and nattuvanar.

Venkatakrishnan is also a serious practitioner of Carnatic music. Having completed a 3 year Diploma at the Govnt. College of Music, Tamil Nadu, he honed his flair for vocal music with his Bachelor of Music at the University of Madras. At this young aspiring age, he already has to his credit several thillanas, varnams and krithis in unconventional ragas, that have won appreciation and laurels from noted doyens of music.
